Prior to co-founding Exus Management Partners, Luis was a member of the Executive Committee of EDP Renewables (EDPR), the third largest wind developer in the world. While at EDPR, from 2004 to 2008, Luis was the Chief Financial Officer and from 2008 to 2012, as Chief Business Development Officer, he was responsible for expanding EDPR international business covering 11 different geographies.Previously Luis worked at McKinsey & Co., where he is currently also Senior External Advisor for Renewable Energies.
Luis received his M.B.A from INSEAD, his Master in Risk Management from NYU - Leonard N. Stern School of Business and has a degree in Economics from Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Prior to joining EXUS in 2020, Luis founded EIRA Capital, an investment platform that focuses on Energy and Infrastructure transactions in Mexico, and selected countries in Latin America. Also, Luis was previously part of Macquarie, where he spent more than seven years in the Macquarie Capital and Macquarie Funds divisions, working on fund capital raising, equity investments, and asset management activities, as well as third party advisory on energy and infrastructure transactions in Mexico and Latin America. During his years at Macquarie, he also held board positions in the several investments made by Macquarie which covered energy, PPPs, roads, and telecom companies.Luis' previous involvement at financial institutions include positions in the investment banking teams of Deutsche Bank's M&A group in New York, and Citibank's Banamex Accival M&A group in Mexico.
In addition, Luis currently participates as: (i) Independent Member of the Investment Committee of INFONAVIT's Investment Fund; (ii) independent board member of COX Energy Americas; (iii) independent board member of SIMPATI Mobile; and (iv) founder of Fundación Reversible, a new charitable foundation focused on global warming issues. Luis holds an MBA from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at NYU in New York, and a BA in Accounting and Finance from ITESM in Mexico.
Dhaval is a Partner at Exus and is responsible for the Operations team. He has 15 years of experience in the renewable energy industry and was previously the Director of Asset Optimization at EverPower Wind Holdings. He was also a Wind Turbine Performance and Diagnostics Engineer for General Electric Renewable Energy. Dhaval has an Aerospace Engineering degree from Penn State.
Nicolás has worked in the finance sector of the renewable energy industry for 12 years.
He was previously an investment banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Royal Bank of Canada and Nomura/Lehman Brothers with a focus on energy. Nicolás has deep knowledge of power & renewable energy markets with expertise in M&A, project finance and financial structuring.
He has a BA & MA in Business Administration and a BA & MA in Law from CUNEF (Spain).
Prior to co-founding Exus Management Partners, Nelson served as Business Development Director at Iberwind and Finerge groups, two of the largest renewable energy operators in Iberia. He has devoted all his career to the energy sector and has focused on renewable energy for the last 20 years, having been responsible for the development and construction of more than 700 MW of wind and solar projects in Portugal and other European countries.
Nelson is a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Coimbra and holds a MSc in Thermal Engineering from the University of Porto.
Before co-founding Exus Management Partners, between 2010 and 2014 Diogo was a director of Plenium Partners, an investment firm focused on renewable energy with 2B euro of assets under management. Between 2009 and 2010, Diogo worked at the European Investment Fund where he was involved in direct investments in private equity and venture capital funds in Spain and Portugal. Previously, he worked for Banco BPI in Portugal as part of the Project Finance Team. Diogo started his career on the Boston Consulting Group, Lisbon office, where he was a member of the Energy Practice Area team.
Diogo received his M.B.A. from IE Business School and graduated in Business Management from Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Prior joining Exus, Nacho was Director of Investments in Banco Sabadell Capital, unit dedicated to invest in Private Equity and Growth Capital, leading the specific vehicle to invest, develop, construction and exploitation of renewable energy projects (wind farm, mini hydro, PVs plants, etc.).
Nacho has a deep knowledge in the energy sector in Spain and abroad, being responsible for the development and construction over 50 investment transactions in Renewable Energy projects totalling c.1,800 MW, representing more than 1,840 M€ of enterprise value and has invested more than 140 M€ in equity in the past 15 years.
He was also member of the Board of Directors for all the subsidiary companies involved into renewable energy owned by Banco Sabadell.Previously, he developed technical functions, in civil work management and special work in the construction sector.
Nacho holds a MsC in Industrial Management Engineering from ETSEIB and BSc in Mechanical Engineerig from EUETIB. He also holds a MBA from UPC (Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya) and PDG (General Management Program) from IESE Barcelona (Universidad de Navarra).
Mike has worked in the renewables sector for 20 years and comes to Exus from the American Clean Power Association (formerly the American Wind Energy Association). He has deep experience in both project development public policy, including both national and local work. Mike was one of the first employees at EverPower Wind Holdings, where he worked for 13 years and was instrumental in growing the company.
Mike has done extensive environmental protection work including establishing the Wind and Wildlife Research Fund, to help protect wildlife near windfarms.
He has a masters degree from MIT and is responsible for the Development team at Exus North America.
Jim has thirty-five years of experience in the power industry managing the development and financing of energy projects in both developed and underdeveloped countries. He was the founder, president and CEO of Ever Power Wind Holdings, a national utility scale development and operating wind company, for 16 years. Currently Jim is the Managing Partner of Exus North America Management Partners.
Jim began his career as an attorney in the energy project finance group at Chadbourne & Parke LLP. He moved to Prudential Capital Corporation to work in the Utilities & Finance Group. He then spent more than a decade at Sithe Energies, Inc., including four years as President of Sithe Asia Holdings Limited; he was responsible for the business development and project finance activities throughout the Asia Pacific Region.
Jim received a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
With over 15 years of experience in the energy sector, Carlos served as Chief Operating Officer of Plenium Partners where he managed c.1.000 MW portfolio of wind, hydro, photovoltaic and concentrated solar power projects in several EU countries, before co-founding Exus Management Partners.Prior to Plenium he worked for Scottish Power Renewable (United Kingdom) and Iberdrola (Spain) where he focused on the management, development, operations and maintenance of energy projects.
Carlos graduated from University of KTH Stockholm (Sweden), EMN Nantes (France) and ETSII at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain) with an MSc in Management and Engineering of Environment and Energy.
Aygen has 25 years of project finance and equity investment experience inemerging markets. His areas of expertise include public and private financing of power generation, transmission, and distribution projects, privatizations of energy and infrastructure assets, energy sector restructuring, transport and municipal infrastructure concessions, oil and gas downstream projects and renewable energy investments.
Aygen has previously spent more than ten years at EBRD’s headquarters in London, and three and a half years heading EBRD’s country offices in the Balkans and the Caucasus. Aygen then joined IFC’s Infrastructure Department, covering Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Turkey. Aygen was also the founder of the first private equity and asset management firm focused on renewable assets inthe region.
Aygen has a B.A. from Ankara University and an M.A. from SAIS, Johns Hopkins University. He is a Fulbright scholar and is one of the founding members of EMPEA’s Energy and Infrastructure Council.
Maria hasmore than 15 years’ experience in Human Resources & Office Management fields. Before joining Exus Management Partners, Maria worked in the corporate industrial risk insurance sector, helping to grow and develop a team from 25 people until reaching a team of 130 people, having managed several legal entities & teams’ integrations as well as managing various systems &processes harmonisations within a context of constant change and evolution. Maria has spent the last 5 years working in AXA XL, a division of AXA, as an HR Advisor.
Jay has 30+ years’ experience in power and energy industry with trackable records of energy infrastructure development and implementation, including the integration of more than 28,000 MW conventional and renewable generation resources, and planning and coordination of 2000+ Transmission projects ($20B+) into the power grid globally.
He holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and an MBA degree in Business Administration from Penn State University, Pennsylvania, USA. Jay is a Senior Member of IEEE. He is an active technical community leader and influencer on sustainability and grid modernization.
Víctor holds more than 7 years of experience in the financial and energy sector. Víctor joined Exus in 2016 as part of the European M&A department. Since then, he has analysed more than 20.0 GW of renewable energy investment opportunities and has successfully transacted more than 3.0GW. During this time, Víctor has participated in more than € 800m of total Senior Debt processes, more than € 1bn of third-party equity raising and currently managing the expected financing necessities of the investment pipeline for the coming months in Europe. Before Exus, Víctor has worked in BBVA and Naturgy, focus on the valuation of financial/derivative stock and commodity products. Víctor is Industrial Engineer by “Universidad Pontificia Comillas” (ICAI) having Cum-Laude Financial Markets Master as well in the IEB.
Prior to joining Exus, Antonio worked as Head of Project Management in GAMESA Energy. Portugal (2003 – 2013) where he was involved in the construction of circa 400MW. Between 2001 and 2003, he was Head of Energy Services in CME (Construction and Electromechanical Services). Head of Energy Decentralized Systems in ABB (2000 – 2001). Before 2000, Antonio worked in the construction department of companies such as Transgas and GDF Suez Group.Antonio has recently supervised the construction and final taking over of 40 MW of two solar projects and is currently supervising the construction of 40 MW of two additional.
He holds a Post-graduation in Management (INDEG/ISCTE) and a Post-graduation in Mechanical Engineering (Energy Area).
Maria was strongly involved in the preparation of the new Exus office in Lisbon and is now in charge of all office related matters, staff supporting and events coordination. Graduated in Marketing and Advertising, and with an expertise of six years in premium Hospitality and Aviation, she travelled the world while working and opened horizons to a wide and various market.
Natali is an experienced office manager having worked many years across pharmaceutical, shopping-centre management, FMCG, and most recently in renewable energy sectors.
Natali supports company operations by maintaining office systems, organizing back office operations, managing service providers, correspondence, designing filing systems and monitoring clerical functions.
Natali has graduated in Public Relations from Anadolu University.
Nuno has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, in areas ranging from development, construction, operation and maintenance to technical responsibility for electrical infrastructure and assetmanagement. A journey carried out in several companies, the last one before joining Exus was at Siemens Gamesa as Electrical Construction Supervisor. Nuno has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Instituto Politecnico de Coimbra.
John joined Exus in 2020 as the Director of Commercial Management and Trading. He has dual Bachelor of Science degrees in finance and marketing and an MBA from the University of Dayton. Before joining Exus, he spent 10 years working in renewable energy and commodity trading. John has deep knowledge of the North American energy markets and specializes in energy trading, risk management, origination, and financial structuring.

Eric joined Exus in 2023 as Assistant Controller, bringing his eleven years of work experience from the corporate accounting field. He has developed many skills that relate to the finances of an organization and their operations. Eric holds a BS degree in Accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Álvaro provides legal advice to Exus from a corporate perspective and its business operations. Álvaro has more than 4 years of experience both in private practice and as in-house counsel. Before joining Exus, Álvaro has worked at Deloitte Legal as lawyer of the Corporate and M&A department in Madrid. Álvaro has international experience having worked in the Tax and Compliance departments at Banco Santander London and New York respectively. He has graduated in Law in “Universidad San Pablo CEU” and has a double Master Degree in Access to the Legal Profession and Corporate law by the Centro de Estudios Garrigues.
Leigh joined Exus in 2019 as a Project Accountant. She has over 20 years of accounting experience with 14 years working in the renewable energy sector. Leigh previously worked with Montauk Energy as an Accounting Manager responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions with a specialized knowledge in system implementation. She has an accounting degree from the Bradford School.
John Nichols is an Asset Manager for Exus NA’s Wind Portfolio. John has over 16 years of experience in Renewable Energy Operations. John started his Renewable Energy career as a Site Technician and moved to Major Component Repair Team Leader traveling across the USA. John was previously an Everpower Wind Holdings Operation Manager at a wind farm in New York and eventually a Senior Operations Manager in charge of several sites in North America. With his previous experience, John was able to acquire a full understanding of the construction and the day-to-day operations of a renewable energy power facility. John has an AOS Degree in Electrical & Construction Maintenance from SUNY Alfred State College of Technology.
Esther spent three years with Deloitte and one year with EY working in both as a Senior Accountant and Tax expert. During that time, she worked as an advisor in the financial department of different companies operating in the energy and industrial sector. Esther studied Law and Business Administration at Pablo de Olavide University in Seville. Deusto Business School MBA 2011.
Natalia has more than 12 years of experience in development and construction of renewable energy projects specially wind farms and solar plants. Before joining Exus Natalia was in charge of Project Development department at Borawind between 2012-2016, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, HSE and Land management. Part of project development team in Cobra Energy, where she was responsible for the North-West team, she was involved with the development and construction of circa 500 MW of renewable projects, leading the processing permissions, including engineering, resource analysis, real state, environmental, construction control and budget tracking. Natalia holds a degree in Industrial Engineering by the University of León (Spain).
Jorge joined Exus in February 2022 as a Project Development Manager. During his last year at university he started off his professional career by working in the Performance department of Grupo Gran solar, focusing on the photovoltaic field. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnical University of Madrid.
Rogerio has more thant 10 years of experiencein photovoltaic area includign commisioning, operation and maintenance, as wellas performance analysis and production optimization, at Exus hecoordinates the O&M team in Iberia. Prior to joining Exus, Rogeriohas worked in different companies and differente countries, and recently astechnical director of GenSun SAS in France.
Rogerio holds a MSc in Energyand Environment Energy from Lisbon University (Portugal).
Nathan joined Exus in 2022 as the Assistant Operations Manager at Twin Ridges Wind Farm. He has 14 years of wind industry experience on site operation and maintenance. Nathan previously worked as a multi-site manager for a wine turbine manufacturer at two Pennsylvania wind farms.
Sabna is the Technical Writer at Exus with over 9 years of experience in the Embedded, Telecom, and Oil & Gas industries. Sabna has previously contributed to Honeywell Technologies, Aricent, and Data patterns and holds a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Pondicherry University, India.
Kristina Pataki is the Landowner Accountant at Exus. She has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Penn State University and a business certificate from the Smeal College of Business. She has previously worked in real estate, banking, and the automotive industry.
